EYC Bowling Night!

THIS Sunday (April 22nd) is our EYC Bowling Night, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Pinarama (5008 S Dale Mabry)! We are meeting there, so bring $15 per person with you for Bowling and Dinner. Invite your friends!

Thanks to everyone who participated (or helped with) Sunday night's Youth Mission Dinner! It was a lot of fun, and we definitely feel the support of the St John's congregation :). Here are the first set of pics, including some of the Decorations and Setup!

Happy Holy Week!

Happy Holy Week!

Thanks to everyone who participated in Sunday's Messy Games Night--it was a lot of crazy fun! Here's a short preview video (lots of pics below!):




This Sunday (4/1) is our annual St John's Easter Egg Hunt (after the 9:15 Family service)--and we could use help hiding eggs! Please let me know if you can volunteer--I will sign for service hours!

St John's EYC is going Bowling at Pinarama (website) on Sunday, April 22nd from 4:30-6:30 p.m.! The cost will be $15 per person (including dinner and bowling)--invite your friends! We will need parent drivers to help drive there and back.

Happy Lent!

Happy Lent! I hope that you are all having a meaningful season of calm and reflection.

Our next EYC will be March 11th (a change from our 1st and 3rd Sunday schedule to accomodate New Beginnings)! Come from 4:30-6 p.m. for fun, food, and faith!

Have you been Confirmed into the Episcopal Church? Our Youth Confirmation classes start THIS Sunday (Feb 25th), and last until April 22nd--meeting each week from 10:30-11:45 a.m. in Discovery House (916 Orleans)! Contact me if you'd like to participate!

Thank You!

Thanks to everyone who participated in our EYC Sandwich Sunday--from packing lunches to writing encouraging notes. You did an awesome job, and I know that the Faith Cafe community is very thankful :). Pictures below!

No EYC THIS Sunday (January 28th)!

Are you ready for some football?! NEXT Sunday (February 4th), join us for our Super Bowl EYC--from 4:30-6 p.m. in Discovery House! Super Bowl Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m., so you won't miss a minute of the big game. Come dressed in your favorite jersey (extra points for accessories or painted faces!)--for fun games, food, and a discussion on succeeding in the Game of Life!


I'm excited--can you tell :)?

The St John's EYC Mission Trip to Chattanooga (June 2-9) is officially full, with 13 Youth signed up! If you are still interested in participating, we are starting a waiting list. The 1st Mission Trip payment (after the initial deposit) is due by February 11th! 

Do you need service hours? We have a few EYC Service opportunities coming up! First, on Sunday, February 11th we will need help from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. with Childrens' games/activities during the St John's Annual Meeting!

Also--save the date for St John's Vacation Bible School (June 18-22)! This year's theme is Shipwrecked!

New Beginnings is an awesome weekend geared especially for 6th-8th graders--using songs, skits, and small group discussions to address some meaningful topics. Here's a quick video from New Beginnings in the Diocese of Florida (some things may be different, but you'll get the idea):



You can get more info on New Beginnings here, and you can sign up for the weekend here! The deadline to sign up is Friday, February 16th. I am planning to work New Beginnings as an Adult Sponsor, so I will be there with the Youth on the weekend.

Winter Jam Concert!

Welcome Back!

THIS Saturday (January 13th) from 3-10 p.m. (with some "tailgating" and games while we wait), St John's EYC is going to see the Winter Jam Tour at the Amalie Arena! The concert features artists such as Skillet, NewSong, and comedian John Crist! Tickets are $15, friends are welcome to join us--you can get more info about Winter Jam here!

Signups for our EYC Summer Mission Trip (June 2-9 to Chattanooga) are open until THIS Sunday (January 14th)--and we're about halfway full so far! The Mission Trip cost is $550 per person (scholarships are available). Here's our Mission Trip Preview video:



We will be serving in Chattanooga at Rec Centers, Nursing Homes, Food Banks, and/or Parks. Our free days will include an Atlanta Braves game, Whitewater Rafting, and spending the night in a cave! Please let me know if you have any questions/concerns--sign up TODAY!


NEXT Sunday (1/21), our EYC event will be sponsoring St John's Sandwich Sunday--making sandwiches from 10:30 a.m.-11:15 a.m. that morning in the Parish Hall! In order to personalize our service, we'd like to include personalized notes from the youth group in the lunch bags. Since we didn't have time on Sunday, I'd like for each Youth to write 4-5 small notes (1/4 of a sheet) at home to bring/include on Sandwich Sunday. Please let me know if you need paper/resources!

Happy Holidays!

Happy Christmas Week!

Lots of information this week (looking into 2018!)--so please read carefully!

Thanks to everyone who participated in Sunday's Tacky Christmas Party! We had a lot of fun with games, gifts, and prizes--including decorating "trees", and a classic Snowball fight :)!






Our Mission Trip sign-ups are OPEN! The Chattanooga Mission Trip will be June 2-9, and the cost is $550 per person (scholarships are available). We would like to have our numbers finalized by January 14th--so please let me know if you are planning to sign up! Here are some reflections from students who did this Chattanooga Mission Trip a few years ago:

Random Holiday: Thursday (12/21) is National Re-gifting Day (very helpful if you got a White Elephant gift on Sunday that you didn't like)!

Our next EYC (the first of 2018!) will be on Sunday, January 7th from 4:30-6 p.m. with a special EYC Parents' Meeting from 4-4:30 p.m. in Discovery House. At the Parents' Meeting, we'll discuss the Spring EYC Calendar, and upcoming events--I hope that everyone can make it :)! 

At EYC on January 7th, we will also be writing encouraging notes to be put into Sandwich Sunday bags (which the youth group will be leading on January 21st)!

Winter Jam (an annual Christian Concert Tour) is coming to Tampa's Amalie Arena on Saturday, January 13th--and St John's EYC is going!  The cost is $15 per person, and friends are welcome. We still need parent volunteers for our EYC Dinners! Our goal would be to cover each week with a different family providing the meal for 15-20 people. You are welcome to turn in receipts for reimbursement. Sign up here!

Mission Trip Meeting!

Happy December!

Would you like to serve on the St John’s EYC Mission Trip this summer? Parents and Youth are invited to the Mission Trip Information Meeting THIS Tuesday (December 5th) from 7-8 p.m. in Discovery House (918 S Orleans Ave)! Check out a quick preview video of the trip:

 

We will be serving in Chattanooga, TN from June 2-9, 2018. Our free days will include a Braves game, whitewater rafting, and spending the night in a cave! The Mission Trip will be open to current 6th-12th graders, and you can sign up at the meeting!

No EYC this Sunday (12/10)--but NEXT Sunday (12/17) will be our first EYC Tacky Christmas Party, from 4:30-6 p.m. in Discovery House! Come wearing your tackiest Christmas gear (there will be a costume prize!)--with a "White Elephant" WRAPPED gift (something fun or wacky--no more than $15) to exchange (more on White Elephant here)! If you need some inspiration, here are some of my past outfits!
